Video: CAIR-OK: Teen Accuses Clothing Store of Discrimination A Tulsa teenager levels allegations of religious discrimination at a Tulsa clothing store. She says she was denied a job at Abercrombie and Fitch because she wears a Muslim headscarf. News On 6 anchor Jennifer Loren reports in an exclusive that the teen and an Islamic advocacy group have filed an official complaint and are seeking public support.
The teenager and the Islamic advocacy group should really file a complaint against Abercrombie and Fitch if it is indeed true that she was not hired because she was wearing a Muslim scarf. Establishments and companies should not hire or deny applicants just because of their religion. What's so bad about being a Muslim? If they are afraid of hiring Muslims because of terrorist acts in other places that involve Muslims, they should at least look at the character of the applicant to assess if he or she has terrorist tendencies.
What is wrong with being a muslim? That is certainly the question that we have to raise. Well Frances, we all know for a fact that some muslims are doing something bad. I have lived in a community of muslims before and I have seen enough to say that some of them are not that good. But well, I think A&F should have evaluated the girl at least to know her capability to work in their store.
I think we should treat one another fairly. We may have differences in religion and beliefs but we are still humans and we should bear that in mind. I think clothing stores must learn the right ethics for their employees, and not just to discriminate them because of being different from others. I am also working in a clothing store and I am satisfied with the right management and friendly co-workers.
This is very disgusting news and the kind of discrimination is truly unfair. We do have differences in life, our belief and religious must not be limited to the opportunities around. We have to be fair to whatever situation we are handling it's a way of accepting one another.
If one is qualified to do the job, he or she must be given a fair chance at the job no matter what is his or her color of skin, nationality, religion or beliefs. Unless maybe if one's beliefs and practices would obviously be counter-productive for the company, then they may have the option to reject the applicant.
