This video shows how to prepare the shirts, tie the shirts in a spiral pattern, dye, rinse, and wash shirts. *Shirts should be prewashed before soaking in the soda ash solution. *Also, if using procion mx dyes, soda ash is important, it allows the dye to bond to the fabric. If you are not sure if the dye you're using needs soda ash, read the packaging, normally it will tell you. *I forgot to mention, you want to either wear an apron or junkie clothes when tie-dying. You could also cut holes in a garbage bag and wear that. Color Ratios (Y=Sun Yellow, B=Medium Blue, R=Carmine Red) Red: 2t R Orange: 1 3/4t Y, 1/4t R Yellow: 2t Y Green: 1 7/8t Y, 1/8 B Blue: 2t B Purple: 1t B, 1t R Pink: 1/4t R t=teaspoon |
