Does "tie dye" dye expire?

I have an old tie dye kit made by jacquard, and Ive already mixed the powder dye with water, a long time ago. The bottles have just been sitting in my room in a box for a while, I still have the soda ash (not mixed) used to set the dye if that makes a difference. I just want to know if theres any chance of the dye staying in the fabric, I dont want to waste dye! :) thanksss
