As a rule, one should check the pockets of his/her clothes in order to see if there are any stuff that could damage your clothes, but sometimes these things do get through the preliminary checks and make their way through the washer. If the washer is not "successful" at exploding the pen, then the dryer might do it in, and you are in for a big mess. | I would freak out if my clothes got severely stained with pen! Washing clothes is a challenge for me and dealing with tough stains like ink surely would mean disaster in my part. I make sure that I do check on every pocket there are in my clothes before I put them in the washing machine. But knowing these tips really are huge help for those who have stain problems, ink in particular with their clothes. |
| I technically surrender at this mere scenario. It has happened to me and it is one of my favorite clothes, but unfortunately it is white and rubbing it off and buying expensive stain removers seems pointless. I could just buy it anyways if all that I am doing to remove such stains will eat away a great chunk of my time, money and energy. The bottom line really here is to not be stupid to let pens on the laundry or let it sit still on those shirt pockets. |
| It would be an even bigger problem if the ink from your pen would explode and stain colored and delicate clothes in your washer or dryer. It is a must to immediately wash your stained clothes, soak it in water with a detergent that is tough on stains to hopefully removed the ink marks. Even then, there is no assurance that the stains will be removed. It will probably take several washings before they will be gone. |
| I have never had this happen to me or anyone else I know, though we have had pens in the washer. Though, I rarely use a dryer unless absolutely necessary, so maybe it is only in the dryer that a pen actually "explodes"??? I do not know. Anyways, this does sound like a major catastrophe that I would like to avoid at all costs. I think I will stick to just checking pockets before turning on the machine. |
